Draw a Story Problem

In this activity, students create their own story problems by drawing an operation card, number card, and setting card, and then writing a story problem using what they drew. This product was designed after reading Debbie Diller's Math Work Stations book but could be used for a variety of math centers or activities. This can also be adapted to multiple grade levels by removing the multiplication and division operation cards.

Guided Reading Prompt Cards

This resource includes 24 eye-catching prompt cards for during guided reading. During reading breaks, a student can choose a card and complete the task or answer the question. These prompt cards will increase student engagement and foster comprehension during reading.

RtI: Response to Intervention "If, Then" Reading Interventions Menu

I've compiled this little 5-page RTI treasure of research-based reading interventions while implementing RTI for the last three years at my school, Lake Myra Elementary. For RTI interventions, we do not use 'programs' because programs aren't very targeted. When providing a student an intervention in the RTI process, the intervention is specific and targeted to the child's one most foundational area of need. On the last page of the document, I include all the blog posts I've written that discuss the implementation of RTI at our school. This document is a compilation of text and media resources. It is licensed under Creative Commons, Non-Commercial, Attribution and Share-Alike.

Geometric Shape Sort

Use this open table to guide your students in sorting shapes. Easy to use, this table allows students to practice spelling shape names, drawing correct figures, and counting the numbers of sides and vertices!

Copy front to back, or even scale it down to add to a math notebook! Will work well with most elementary grades! Teachers can even use this in a shape center once the concept has been taught.
